Biography -

stephanie.b.morales

Stephanie is a visual storyteller working towards her bachelors degree in public relations at California State University, Long Beach where she is specializing in photojournalism and media design. She graduated from Orange Coast College with an AA in journalism and certificates of achievement in Marketing and Advertising.  

She is currently the Communications Director for PRSSA Long Beach where she is updating the chapter newsletter, blog and website using these media design skills. Stephanie is also the founding Firm Director for Waves PR, a student run and organized public relations firm at CSULB.

Previously, she worked in OCC’S Marketing and Public Relations department assisting the Public Relations Specialist and as the Social Media Manager for the Orange County Children’s Book Festival. Stephanie also served as the Managing and Multimedia Editor for Coast Report, OCC’s award winning student newspaper.

Where I come from . . .

When I was 10 years old, we moved from the suburban Southern California beach city of Huntington Beach to rural middle of nowhere Western Pennsylvania. Growing up with the changing seasons and beautiful country landscapes was ideal, but the pull to return ‘home’ was too strong after graduation.  

Where I’m at . . .

Today, my family and I still live in SoCal taking advantage of the slowed down beach lifestyle and the magic and wonder of Disneyland. I’m a full-time mom, full-time student and forever learner.  My experience has been in retail leadership, non-profit community building and higher education networking and storytelling.

Where I’m going . . .

I am looking forward to a flexible or hybrid position where I can balance and prioritize work life, family life and self-care. I see myself in a creative and collaborative position where I can use my visual storytelling and problem-solving skills. My interests include: higher education; theatre, museum, and community landmark spaces; and non-profit companies.

Fun facts . . .

  • Light and shadows

    A good walk around the block with my camera on the hunt for the most delicious light, shadows and reflections is one of the best stress relievers.

  • Figs and oranges

    It comes down to vibes for me. Whether it is physical senses, or trusting my gut - I am going to go with what feels right and makes me happy.

  • Time is valuable

    If I am going to be away from my family, it needs to for a good meaningful reason and I am going to give it my all to make me and them proud.

  • Play make-believe

    Things that I enjoy: binge-watching tv shows like General Hospital, Doctor Who, Sherlock and Good Mythical Morning; rewatching my favorite movies over and over… and over again; and kids books, cartoons, and the wisdom of Steve from Blue’s Clues.

  • Disney magic

    My favorite place is Disney: eating at Storyteller’s or Lamplight Lounge, riding Soaring over California, Star Tours or the Jungle Cruise; the sights, sounds and smells of Disney Halloween & Christmas; and Tenaya Stone Spa’s yoga in the Redwoods.

  • Music heals

    The louder you sing, the better you will feel. I am someone who will stay in the car just a bit longer so I can leave on the right song. What am I listening to? The soundtracks to Hamilton, Waitress, Dear Evan Hansen, Shrek and Wicked.

  • Forever a student

    This nerd enjoys school and is already planning to go back once I’ve finished my BA. Graphic design? Theatre management? Strategic communications?
